Answer: "Yes they are. In ductless air conditioners the evaporator is located near the ceiling. As a result the outdoor unit pumps the refrigerant to the evaporator which produces cool air. The cool air is denser than hot air. It easily goes down in the rooms from the ceiling, where it is generated by the evaporator. The rooms are easily cooled and the air conditioner is able to utilize its fullest capacity. This does not happen in central air conditioners. Here the refrigerant is pumped to the evaporator which located in the basement of the building. The cold air which is heavy and dense is then pushed up to first floor, second floor and to the third floor sometimes. As a result it creates a cold basement, a fairly cool 1st floor, and usually unsatisfactory conditions on the 2nd and 3rd floors. "
